Bluegrass Residents Are Free at Last

~~ Bluegrass Bureau Chief Ken CamBoo says today is Tax Freedom Day in Kentucky . According to our good buddy Scott Hodge at The Tax Foundation, that’s the day each year you stop working exclusively for the government, because every dollar you’ve earned so far this year will have theoretically gone to pay all of your federal, state, and local taxes for 2008. Maybe that’s why our Quote for Today Committee chose Franklin P. Adams’ “Count the day won when, turning on its axis, this earth imposes no additional taxes.”

~~ Hurley the Historian says Tax Freedom day comes to Kentucky five days before “Tax Day” on April 15 and a full week before April 17, when over-taxed payers on the North Shore can begin working for themselves this year. Maybe that explains why so many folks besides Bungals bad boys and over-sexed MILFs prefer living in Kentucky , the land of fast women and beautiful horses. Why else could Our Beloved Publisher Charles Foster Kane possible lunching at the WOK last Friday with Miss Vicki and Y’All Ville Mayor Blondie Whalen.

~~ Another reason for the Exodus from Hamilton County and its environs could be because our Kneepad Liberals in the Press have turned the area into Ground Zero for Grief. Take Maupin Madness, for example, where last night, there was a pause from mourning firefighters to plan Fallen Hero Matt Maupin’s tasteful, private funeral at Great American Ballpark at 1 PM on April 27, just long enough for more than 1,000 people to show up at the Yellow Ribbon Support Center’s third annual dinner dance fund-raiser for the family.

~~ The Blower has learned that Clermont County Commissioners are soliciting input from the community about ways to honor Staff Sergeant Matt Maupin. It has been suggested that Route 32 be re-named the Matt Maupin Expressway and a statue of Matt is being commissioned for the County Courthouse in Batavia . Additionally, Rob “Fighting Furiously for Failed Legacies” Portman has announced signs are going to be erected as you enter the County on I-275 both north and south reading, "Home of Matt Maupin" and with only 208 more days till the November Elections, Portman’s protégé Mean Jean Schmidt plans to introduce legislation asking Congress to dedicate the Little Miami River in Clermont County to the memory of Matt Maupin. At what point does honoring the brave sacrifices of a young soldier become too much?

~~ Other reasons for the Exodus, include Super-sized Jail Tax Scams; sleazy, unprecedented, last-minute backroom deals between DemocRATS and Republicans to allow each other’s county-wide and judicial candidates to run unopposed; Happy High School Homo Day on April 25; paying $7 for a warm beer at a Reds game, and those demolition drivers from Queen City Metro, where it looks like they’ve run out of innocent drivers to crash into so they started smashing up police cruisers on Tuesday night. In long-standing tradition, it’ll be interesting to see if the police officer cites himself.
